Day 8 Do Not Shut Yourself Out
Luke 2:7
Focal Scripture: “And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn,.”
According to Spurgeon: By being born in a manger he invited the most humble to approach him. Coming to the throne can be intimidating, but no one fears approaching a manger. The gospel is preached to all. It is free to all. No one is excluded, from “ the learned and polite to the ignorant and rude.” Jesus's grace can save a prince as well as a poor man. All who want to come are welcome to approach Him, just as they are.
No Room For Christ In The Inn-Sermon delivered Dec. 21, 1862
My Thoughts: The King of kings had the most humble beginning and in doing so he opened His door to all of us. We are loved as we are. We are given the most precious gift, salvation, for free. All we have to do is accept that gift. Regardless of where we are in life He welcomes us into His kingdom. In time, He shapes and molds us into who He created us to be. We don’t need to worry about getting our lives together first. We don’t need to not worry about cleaning up our act first. We are loved unconditionally by Him. To be found approved will take time. To be made righteous, holy, set apart for God will take time. This is a work we do in collaboration with Him. This is something we work on till the end of our days, our race, but we can approach Him at any time in our walk.
Prayer Note:
Thankful heart for God’s open arms and unconditional love
May He help us to make better choices and walk the path He has created for us.
